Chocolate and strawberry mousse cake

I baked something I have to share with the whole internet. For the 6 year birthday party I baked this strawberry and chocolate mousse cake. This cake doesn't need any oven but 8 hours in the fridge. In the bottom there is cookie crumbs (Digestive) and butter. The strawberry mousse includes mashed strawberries, milk, whipped cream, sugar and gelatine. Then there is a layer of sliced strawberries and then chocolate mousse made of Marabou 70% and Lindth Choco-cream Pecanuss, both 100 grams, then whipped cream and gelatine. And on the top, more strawberries and cookie scrumbs. And on the side there are chocolate sigars.

6 year old didn't like it, but all the adults did. That Lindth chocolate fitted very well on that mousse and gave nice sweetness to it. And of course the strawberries are the nicest delicacy of the summer.

And by the way, this was perhaps the first cake ever I've made that also looks nice.

Finally, chocolate cake!

I am lucky to have a husband who likes to try different chocolate cake recipes. This time he didn't use a recipe at all. The reslut was something like mudcake with cacao bean crush and chocolate mousse on top of it. Maybe the mousse was not ment to be as wet as it was but it tasted good. The texture of mudcake was great. Cacao beans give a nice touch to your mouth. A hint of brandy fits well with chocolate too.

Chocolate!

As always, all the good ideas come to your mind in the middle of the night. So was this one. As inpired by the trip to Kaunas, Lithuania, I got an idea about to write a blog about chocolate cakes and maybe everything about chocolate in general.

In Kaunas there was maybe the best realtion between the quality and price what comes to chocolate. A huge, delicious piece of chocolate cake, filled with three different kind of chocolate mousses costed something like 2 euros. That is insane! From now on I will also take pictures about every chocolicious things I'm going to eat.

Enjoy!
